MAYHEM LOSES MOMENTUM AGAINST THE PERPETUAL MOTION

Mayhem Members and Fans,

After our great win against the Village Idiots, we lost our momentum against the Perpetual Motion.  The Motion started out strong -- two quick goals in the first period.  Forest "Houdini" Edwards rallied the team when he scored Mayhem's first goal of the night 5:26 into the first period.  His goal was unassisted.  The Motion then scored their third goal of the night with 2:36 left in the first period.  Not wanting to be left behind on the blueline, Matt "Buckeye" Reiter scored the first goal of his career from an assist by Houdini Edwards.  Less than a minute later, "Cowtown Bound" Doug Massey continued his streak and scored Mayhem's third goal of the night with an assist by Mike "Doc" Miller. Time of the goal was 10:43.   The first period concluded with the Mayhem and Motion tied with 3 goals each.

Neither team seemed to give ground the second period until the Motion scored their fourth goal of the night with only 1:27 left.

The Motion came to life the third period and scored another 3 goals.  the game ended with a heartbreaking 7-3 loss.

Each team limited their penalties to one penalty each.  Houdini Edwards was called for checking in the second period and served 2 minutes in the sin bin.

MVP of the night goes to Matt "Buckeye" Reiter. Congratulations on your first goal and hard defensive play!.

Our overall record is now 1-2.  11 GF and 15 GA.  While these two losses are disappointing, don't lose focus!  We are scoring more goals and more of our players our scoring.  We need to keep up the hard work.

OUR NEXT GAME WILL BE SUNDAY FEB 3 at 7:40 PM. We will be the home team taking on the undefeated Foxes and Hounds.  Terri has had a great season so far and has only given up two goals.  Be ready to take lots of hard shots!!!

If you will not be able to play, please email me ahead of time.

Game Stats:
Edwards 1 goal, 1 assist, 2 PIM (checking)
Reiter 1 goal
Massey 1 goal
Miller 1 assist

Cheers!

Mayhem Downs The Village Idiots

Mayhem Members & Fans,

After a rough start of the season, the Mayhem came back with a vengeance on the ice!  For our fans who braved the bone chilling weather, you were not disappointed with the game you came to see.

Forest "Houdini" Edwards scored the first goal of the game 4 minutes 5 seconds into the game.  The assist was by Defenseman and Rookie Mike "M-squared" Miller.   Miller is a winter first round draft pick recruited by our own Ryan Jones.   On a roll, Houdini scored the second goal of the night a mere 3 minutes later.  The assist was credited to Wingman Udo Schmidt-sinns and defenseman Evil Eye Eric Caridas (recently acquired from the Havoc).  Not wanting to be left out, Jim "Drill 'em" Pun left the blue line behind and scored Mayhem's third goal of the night! After a hearty meal of Wheaties, Doug "Cowtown Bound" Massey was  skating and shooting hard.  With 30 seconds left in the first period, Cowtown scored his first goal of the season and Mayhem's fourth of the night. The assist was by another newcomer to the Mayhem who had been recruited from the Havoc -- Matt "Buckeye" Reiter.  This may have been a record setting period in the history of Mayhem Hockey -- 4 goals in  one period!

The forechecking and hard playing continued in the second period.  Not willing to settle for an assist, "M-Squared" scored his first Mayhem goal half way into the first period on a power play.  Quiet Man Mike Davis assisted that goal.  Working his trademark magic, Houdini Edwards scored his third goal and got his hat trick with 2 minutes left in the second period.  Drill 'em Pun is credited with the assist.   The score stood 6-0 at the end of the second period.

With the clock running, Mayhem scored their sixth goal of the night with a mere 2 minutes 16 seconds left on the clock in the last period.  Quiet Man Davis (a Mayhem veteran who recently returned from the Havoc) scored his first goal of the session unassisted.    With a mere 1 minute 19 seconds left, the Village Idiots managed to score on goal.  Not to be outdone, Defenseman M-squared Mike Miller  scored his second goal of the night with an assist from Wild Man Bill Thompson.

The only Mayhem penalty of the night was Wingman Udo's 2 minutes in the "sin bin" for interference; perhaps a team record as it was called a mere 6 seconds into the first period.

Everyone played an awesome game!!!  Great job playing position by everyone!!  I know some of the newbies got thrown into positions that they were not used to playing, but they did a great job.  Also, everyone's flexibility and great team spirit helped the bench move smoothly.  THANK YOU ALL!

Benji "Czech Lightning" Michalek-- Great Job guarding the net!

MVP goes to Houdini Edwards for his hat trick and great job on the ice.

Rookie of the Game goes to Mike "M-squared" Miller his great defensive play as well as 2 goals and an assist!

This certainly was a team effort and all deserve credit for this win!!!  A total of 9 players were credited with goals or assists!

OUR NEXT GAME IS SUNDAY JANUARY 27 AT 9:20 AT CHILLER NORTH (AGAIN) WHEN WE TAKE ON THE PERPETUAL MOTION.  Dejavou all over again! The Motion are 1-1 (same record as ours) with 7 goals scored and 6 against.  We are now 1-1 with 8 goals for and 8 against.  BE READY TO PLAY HARD AND PLAY SMART AGAIN!!!

*****I KNOW SEVERAL WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THIS GAME, PLEASE LET ME KNOW AGAIN BY EMAIL IF YOU  WILL NOT BE THERE (My memory is not the best!)
